My fantabuous Aunt suggested I write in a document and email it to myself to post into Blogger…  My thumbs were not happy with me after yesterday’s post!!  While I am grateful for much of the world’s technical advances (hot water, toilets, electricity!!), typing a blog on a phone (albeit a “smartphone”) is not one of them…
I’m still working on the “purpose” of my blog… Is it informational, inspirational, communicative, or persuasive? Maybe it’s a little of all of them.  I’m totally open to suggestions, so be sure to leave a comment if there’s something in particular you’d like me to chat about… Anyone who knows me (even casually) will know that I can talk about darn near anything!
Today I want to discuss purpose…  I listened to a video by Mastin Kipp (of Daily Love fame) – and he’s offering a training soon about “claiming your power”.  One of the things he said really stood out to me – a sentence that blew my mind when I first heard it, and had been forgotten for a bit.
“Things don’t happen to you, they happen FOR you”.
Amazing how just changing that one word, completely changes the trajectory and feeling behind the message…  Things happen for me – I am not a victim. Things happen to me – I am powerless…  We give so much of our power away – in our workplaces, our homes, our government/politics, religion, and families… Once we take some ownership (and yes, we may need a reminder every now and again), we take back that power.  I am learning to take responsibility for my actions – without taking responsibilities for others’.
I am working on a 3 year plan.  I intend to be debt free, and have a good chunk of change set aside.  I want to LIVE.  I’m no longer going to allow loan payments and electric bills, and school trips to dictate our lives…  I want to TRAVEL, and spend TIME, and EXPERIENCE things.  I’m ready to come out of my shell and grow into the person the universe created me to be.  My intention is to share this journey through this medium – and maybe – just maybe – you can feel like things are happening FOR YOU, too.
